Shandong - the splendid Qilu culture

Weifang Vocational College is located in Weifang, an eastern costal city of Shandong Province. Shandong is one of the most developed open regions in China. The towering Mount Tai, dashing Yellow River and boundless sea have molded the frank and integrity keeping character of the people. Countless outstanding characters have arisen from this area and become the mainstream of Chinese culture. This land saw the birth of the author and sage of Confucius, a famous thinker, educator and philosopher, who has influenced Chinese history and culture deeply. This land also saw the birth of Sun Tzu, the strategist who wrote Art of War, and Wang Xizhi, the calligrapher who reached the peak of the art of calligraphy. Qufu-the hometown of Confucius, and Mount Tai have been listed in the directory ofWorld Cultural Heritage sites” and “World Natural Cultural Heritage”.

Weifang - the world kite capital

Weifang is located in the middle of Shandong Peninsula. It is a coastal opening city with a long history and enduring culture and is the transportation hub along the Ji-Qing expressway and the Jiao-Ji railway. Several domestic routes are linked to Weifang Airport and the annual throughput of Weifang Port is close to15 million tons. With a population of over 9.08 million and 1.08 million people in the downtown area, its industry and commerce are very prosperous. With its developed transportation and beautiful scenery, Weifang is a comfortable city to live in. It is noted as a garden city, a model city of environmental protection and a national sanitary city. 

Weifang is famous for its ancient culture and various folk customs. Some of the noted worthy attractions are the beauty of Mount Yi, the attractive wildeness of the salt field, and the fossils of the mysterious dinosaurs period. The other famous sites include unearthed relics and Han tombs, the giant “Shou” character stone inscription in Yunmen Mountain. The highest imperial examination paper of “Zhuangyuan” Zhao in the Ming Dynasty is found here.  A traditional art include paper-cuts of peasant households, and New Year woodcuts. The “one-thousand-li” all make the visitors and tourists who come here feel relaxed and happy.  

In addition, Weifang has long been known for the kites for which Weifang has become the World Kite Capital. The international Kite Festival which attracts kites’ enthusiasts from all over the world is held and celebrated here every year. Weifang is not only a historical but also a modern city, offers our foreign friends a journey of culture, friendship and business.
